resonator: career coaching

a web platform for a developing coaching business with expertise in career search, communications skills and conflict resolution skills

Resonator: Project Overview

As our workforce evolves over the next decade, more people will need to shift to self-directed learning for the skills they need to get a job, succeed at the job, and even to move to the next level.  A lot of coaching talent for these skills has moved from being internal to companies to external to capitalize on that opportunity.

This business concept is the combination of 30 years of experience in helping people develop a sense of who they are, where they fit, and how to best develop new skills in areas where they have roadblocks.  The key on this project was to develop a platform that would launch the company while also delivering a framework to help them organize the launch and anticipate a growth trajectory based on their resources, talents, and company values.

Reading left to right, top to bottom:
1.  The Landing or Home page is a quick orientation to what is available on the site.  This includes a brief overview of the company, the team, testimonials from clients, a site catalogue and social media contact information.
2.  The company offers 9 different curriculum paths at this point.  They can be sorted in terms of content type, level of experience, and by instructor.  Each curriculum path would have a 90 second introduction to show the framework and links to free content about the same topics from the instructors.  This would give individuals a base to make a buying decision.
3.  The curriculum is set up with 9 modules.  A module consists of video instruction, reading, and worksheets.  This work can be submitted to the team for review.  The platform will keep up with what you have accomplished and send reminders about the remaining content.  Information is given about how long the content is and how long the exercise should take.
4.  An individual module will have full screen video and segments of work visible to guide a user through the work in a step-by-step process.
5.  A plethora of free resources are available in the form of podcasts, blog posts, smaller piece of worksheets, and events.
6.  The user will have a profile page to keep track of a variety of purchased content.  This will give them a login to proceed directly to their curated collection of exercises and content.  It also gives the team a way to track what modules are giving people issues and cross-reference that with demographic data.
7.  As the team starts, they will build a set of credentials on their current clients and collect feedback from the new clients of the company.  Users will be able to access deeper information on a specific instructor/coach from this page.  This will likely be used for decisions about individual coaching or larger engagements with companies for part-time HR department work and longer culture development projects.
8.  Meeting a coach in-person or seeing the team in action will provide a sense of security and compatibility for clients.  This is an important aspect of the coaching relationship for small groups and one-on-one situations.  Events where the team members are speaking or hosting a workshop are a good way to give prospects this sense of security.
9.  Blog content will be an important asset on the site for both search engine optimization, but also building a catalogue of content.  This is where the team will introduce new topics and ways of presenting information to get feedback.  It's the most conversational aspect of the site and should be managed as a place to foster community for the team and all of their clients.

This platform can be developed on a low-cost and easy-to-use model like Squarespace or Wix.  This means the team can manipulate information themselves without having to rely on an expert to read their analytics or post items for them.  This is the recommended route for this team for the first year to 18 months of operations.  This will give them an opportunity to experiment and move quickly.
